About Us

Founded in 2014, ACRN is an umbrella organization representing 35 distinct communities of African descent Canadians. ACRN acts as a mentor for smaller member organizations and strives to address the unique challenges and needs of our community, specifically those related to immigration, settlement, integration and full participation in Canada’s economy.

About Our Opportunity

As an ACRN Summer Student worker, you will provide a broad range of administrative support, be a contact person for clients and stakeholders of various ACRN programs and deal directly with the public. You will receive correspondence from members and stakeholders, enter and retrieve data from automated systems, record and process documentation, adhere to policies and processes and maintain filing systems. You will assist with special projects, all while working as a team player.

About You

As the successful candidate, you will currently be enrolled as a student (post-secondary) and returning to school in the fall or in the next applicable semester for the education program. Enrolment in a course of study related to business administration or social sciences will be considered an asset.

Your key skills include attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to work under pressure and deadlines. You are also required to display strong interpersonal and communication skills. In this position, you are required to have experience and competency in a computerized environment, be able to demonstrate strong people skills such as active listening, and have some experience working as part of a team. Bilingualism with oral and written skills in English and French is required for this position. We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Pay Grade: HOURLY

Salary Range: $14.50 - $18.00 Hourly
