The African Canadian Resource Network Saskatchewan Inc. (ACRN) is a non-profit organization founded in 2014. Our mission is to support the capacity development of Canadians of African descent in Saskatchewan in strategic areas such as public and business leadership. We also work to enhance social and cultural connections within and outside our community, with a view to facilitating the successful integration of our members into our province.

Job Description

Bookkeeping Services

  • Accounts Receivable: receive and record revenue accordingly
  • Accounts payable: Make payments to vendors and other parties accordingly
  • Maintain costs by program and/or grant designation
  • Work with other officers at ACRN in assisting with Grant Reporting
  • Review staff timesheets and proper grant allocation
  • Process and enter Payroll information into the designated database
  • Maintain Deposit and Vendor files by Fiscal Year
  • Follow Accrual Accounting method for maintaining the books
  • Monthly reconciliation of bank accounts as well as reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts

Financial Reporting

  • Budget to Actual Summary and Detail
  • Prepare monthly statements of Income & Expense, Balance Sheet, or other reports

as necessary

  • Present financials to Management on monthly basis
  • Budget Preparation
  • Prepare budgets and allocations for multiple programs and funding sources
  • Prepare and submit periodic budget amendments to grantors of funders

Audit Preparations

  • Participate in financial audits and reviews conducted by funding agencies,
  • including document preparation and onsite support
  • Prepare year end reports, schedules and other documents requested by auditor

Reporting Requirements

  • Prepare periodic reports as required by Executive Team, Board and funders
  • Maintain fixed asset inventory and depreciation

Administrative Services

  • Provide executive administrative assistance to the Senior Management Team of ACRN and arrange logistics for meetings and forum and other internal and external groups.
  • Research and compile information for documents/reports; support and assist with special projects and event organization.
  • Prepare and distribute agendas/reports/documents/minutes and ensure confidentiality is maintained.

Job Requirements:

  • 2 - 3 years of experience or post-secondary education in accounting or business administration
  • Solid understanding and experience of book-keeping and accounting principles
  • Working towards CPA designation is an added advantage
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Experience with a computerized accounting system
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills (English)
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of working harmoniously within teams;
  • Be an independent, energetic, analytical, self-starting and responsible worker, driven by successful, punctual and quality outcomes;
  • Be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Experience in non-profit or community-based organizations an asset;

The Accounting Clerk/Administrative Assistant position is a temporary part-time position with flexible hours.
