Khadar Tawane, Director of HR and Governance

Khadar was born in Somalia and immigrated to Canada in 2013. He has been involved with the Prairie Somali Canadian Community Centre and the African Canadian Resources Network in Regina since 2017 as a volunteer and assisted in various capacities. He lived and worked in Prince Edward Island from 2013 to 2016 before moving to Regina, Saskatchewan.

Khadar holds a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from the University of Regina and currently working on his Masters of Adult Education and Human Resource Development. Before moving to Canada, Khadar also trained as a teacher in Kenya where he had received certificates in education from Mount Kenya University and Masinde Muliro University in Kenya.

Khadar worked in the education field in different capacities, from classroom teacher to school principal in Kenya. He currently holds the professional teaching license from Saskatchewan Professional Teachers Regulatory Board (SPTRB) and teaches in Regina Schools.

Khadar has a wide array of experience working in planning and facilitating programming for students of all ages, from KG to young adults in educational settings. He has extensively volunteered to tutor newcomers and offered homework help to students from low income families. He loves to help children and young adults develop and gain education in a holistic way that nurtures them mentally, physically, and emotionally.

When Khadar is not teaching, he loves to have time with his family and reads books. He also enjoys playing, coaching and watching soccer.
